And when paired with the accurate fitment and an extended amount of coverage the header gets versus a stock heat shield, these header pipe guards do a good job protecting against dents and dings. The heat shield can also help keep hot engine components away from your leg, keeping your expensive boots / pants from melting on hot exhaust. The exterior facing surface is finished with a high-strength clear coat that lets the carbon fiber weave show through, and on the backside of the guard a special heat-resistant coating ensures the guard itself won't get too hot.
